A pergola is a structure, not an accessory.
Most pergolas sold in Dubai are ordered from a catalogue and bolted to the tiles. Posts sit on the paving rather than on foundations, so the first shamal wind lifts a corner. Sections are joined with self-tapping screws that rust and streak the deck within a season. Nobody checks community rules, so the owner receives a removal notice from the developer months later. Louvred systems arrive without drainage design, so rainwater runs down the posts, and timber that was never treated for this climate splits and greys before its second summer.
We treat the pergola as a small building. Post positions are set on concrete foundations sized for uplift, wind load is calculated for your plot exposure, and the design is submitted to your community and the municipality where required. Frames are powder-coated aluminium or properly treated hardwood, assembled with stainless fixings, and louvred roofs are specified with integrated gutters that discharge through the posts to a drainage point. Electrical provision for fans, lighting and heaters is run inside the frame at build stage, so nothing is surface-clipped afterwards.

Powder coating is specified to a marine-grade pretreatment for coastal plots on the Palm, Saadiyat and Al Raha, where standard architectural coatings chalk within a few years. Timber is thermally treated rather than simply oiled.
