— 01 / DUBAI CONTEXT

A Dubai garden is used for four hours a day, nine months a year.

Handover gardens across Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches and Damac Hills arrive as compacted sand with a boundary wall. What you do with them has to answer one question honestly: when will anyone actually be out there? In Dubai that is early morning and after sunset for most of the year, which changes everything — shade structures matter more than lawn, lighting matters more than flowers, and paving that stores heat all afternoon makes a terrace unusable until midnight.

We design Dubai gardens around shade, breeze and evening light: louvred pergolas over the seating zone, light-toned porcelain or travertine paving, planting chosen from species that survive a Dubai August, and zoned drip irrigation on a smart controller so metered water is not poured into sand. Levels, drainage and irrigation go in before a single plant does.

Approvals and permits in Dubai

Hard landscaping in Dubai stays under the radar until it touches boundaries, levels, shade structures or pools. Fixed pergolas and any change to the plot boundary need a developer NOC and, for larger structures, a Dubai Municipality permit with structural drawings covering wind uplift. Communities such as Emirates Hills and Arabian Ranches also enforce design guidelines on visible external work. We prepare and lodge all of it.

  • Dubai Municipality building modification permits, prepared and lodged by us
  • Dubai Development Authority (DDA) submissions for TECOM and free-zone communities
  • Developer NOCs — Emaar, Nakheel, Dubai Properties, Damac and Meraas
  • Contractor registration, third-party insurance and site access passes

Landscaping in Dubai, answered.

From around AED 85,000 for a townhouse garden with paving, turf and irrigation, AED 180,000 to 450,000 for a villa garden with a pergola and planted zones, and above that for estate plots.

Planting and paving inside your plot usually do not. Fixed pergolas, boundary changes, level changes and pools do — a developer NOC first, then a Dubai Municipality permit with structural drawings.

Bougainvillea, frangipani, date and areca palms, ficus hedging, desert grasses and succulents, all on zoned drip irrigation. We avoid species that only survive with daily hand watering.

Eight to twelve weeks for a villa garden including paving, pergola, irrigation and planting. We front-load groundworks into the cooler months where the schedule allows.

Yes — scheduled visits covering planting, irrigation checks, pool water balancing where applicable and lighting maintenance, priced as an annual contract.

Light-toned porcelain and travertine, which reflect rather than store heat. Dark natural stone looks striking and becomes unwalkable barefoot by mid-afternoon.
